Tired of working at a desk, Derrick Watson left his job in accounting in 1998 to start a window cleaning/cleaning company - Genie Clean.

With two staff armed with little more than rags, squeegees and ladders, it was a humble beginning.

But Derrick’s attention to detail, efficiency and commitment to quality proved as valuable in cleaning as it was in accounting. He earned his customers’ loyalty, and word travelled fast.

20 years later, we have grown to meet demand, with a staff of 18 and eight vehicles on the road.

Derrick passed away in October, 2014, but his wife, Frances, has carried on his legacy.

She was joined by her brother, Winston Posthuma, in May 2016. He brought 30 years of operations management experience to help grow the company further.

But although the latest technology helps us move faster, our quality service and willingness to go the extra mile for our loyal customers has not changed.

We have remained family owned and operated, with the same commitment to reliability, honesty and quality workmanship in everything we do.

We strive to remain the number one window cleaning company in Christchurch by continuing to do what we do best: Delivering great service, and going the extra mile for our customers. 

You'll often meet Winston out on site, or if you ask for a quote. With a manufacturing and staff management background and a can-do attitude, he works to keep staff motivated and working smarter, with all the tools they need to do the job well. 

You'll usually speak with Frances if you call the office. With an accounting background, superb organisational skills and an eye for detail, she keeps track of the teams and works with customers to make sure all their cleaning needs are met on time, just as they like it.
